FSH News, Belitung – The Forum of Deans of Sharia and Law Faculties from State Islamic Higher Education Institutions across Indonesia held a national seminar and work meeting in Belitung from February 18–21, 2025. The event focused on the theme "Quality Assurance Policies in Sharia and Law Faculties." It was attended by deans and vice deans from various regions in Indonesia, with some participating in person and others joining virtually.
The seminar featured Prof. Sahiron, Director of Islamic Higher Education, and Prof. Slamet Wahyudi, a member of the Executive Board of BAN-PT, as keynote speakers. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, Dean of FSH, served as the moderator.
In his presentation, Prof. Sahiron outlined various policies and initiatives by the Ministry of Religious Affairs to improve the quality of higher education. He emphasized the importance of equipping students with language skills to enhance their global competitiveness. He also encouraged academic programs to strive for Excellent Accreditation (Akreditasi Unggul) and international accreditation.
Meanwhile, Prof. Slamet Wahyudi introduced a new accreditation scheme for academic programs, which will take effect in August 2025. Under this system, accreditation will be categorized into three levels:
- Provisional Accreditation (Akreditasi Sementara)
- Accredited (Terakreditasi)
- Excellent Accreditation (Akreditasi Unggul)
The accreditation renewal process will be conducted through continuous monitoring. Programs that meet the criteria will be granted Accredited status, while those aiming for Excellent Accreditation must apply through an Independent Accreditation Agency or BAN-PT.[MM]
