Visiting the Indonesia Stock Exchange, HES Students of FSH UIN Jakarta Deepen Their Understanding of Islamic Stocks and Mutual Funds

FSH NEWS, Jakarta — A total of 120 students from the Sharia Economic Law (HES) Study Program at the Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, participated in a study visit to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The visit was conducted in three sessions on October 7, 16, and 21, 2026, with 40 students participating in each session.

The study visit was part of the faculty’s efforts to strengthen students’ understanding of Islamic capital market practices. During the activity, students gained insights into investment mechanisms in the capital market, particularly Islamic stocks and Islamic mutual funds.

In addition to gaining firsthand knowledge of the capital market industry, students had the opportunity to connect the concepts learned in the classroom with real-world industry practices. This experience is expected to enrich their understanding of how capital market law is applied in the development of the modern financial industry.

The field supervisor, Hidayatulloh, Ph.D., who also holds the Certified Islamic Capital Market Expert (Ahli Syariah Pasar Modal/ASPM) certification, emphasized the importance of providing students with practical learning experiences through direct visits to industry institutions.

“Students need practical study experiences to gain a comprehensive understanding of capital market investments. It would be unfortunate if students studying capital market law at a university in South Jakarta never visited the Indonesia Stock Exchange,” said Hidayatulloh.

Support for the initiative was also expressed by the leadership of FSH UIN Jakarta. The Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Kamarusdiana, M.H., viewed direct interaction between students and industry practitioners as an important part of preparing graduates for the professional world.

“The faculty strongly supports student engagement with the Islamic financial industry. We hope that, after graduation, they will be well-prepared and able to compete by identifying opportunities to contribute professionally amid the increasingly competitive job market,” Prof. Kamarusdiana stated.

The visit to the Indonesia Stock Exchange is expected not only to broaden students’ knowledge of the Islamic capital market but also to strengthen their readiness to face the evolving financial industry.

Through a learning approach that combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience, FSH UIN Jakarta continues to encourage students to develop comprehensive competencies, encompassing expertise in law and fiqh muamalah (Islamic commercial jurisprudence), as well as an understanding of developments in the national financial industry and capital market.
