The Third International Seminar Series was attended by the Rector of Az Zahra University, Qom, Iran
FSH News, Madya Meeting Room – The 3rd series of the International Seminar Series (ISS) hosted by the Faculty of Sharia and Law featured speakers from Iran, including Prof. Zohreh Borghei, the Rector of Az-Zahra University, Qom, Iran, and Dr. Muhammad, with Prof. Dr. Wardah Nuroniyah, S.H.I., M.S.I., Head of the FSH Laboratory, acting as the respondent.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, S.H., M.A., MDC, the Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law, warmly welcomed Prof. Zohreh and her delegation to FSH UIN Jakarta. “We are very pleased to be visited by the Rector of the largest women's university in Iran. Today's participants, particularly the master's students, are eager to learn more about comparative law, such as the role of the Republic of Iran in strengthening the family,” said Prof. Maksum in his opening remarks at the third ISS (Tuesday, 01/10/2024).
During the seminar, Prof. Zohreh presented on the development of women’s rights and roles in Iran, focusing on education, employment, and family, which she emphasized as the foundation of life. “Before the Islamic revolution in Iran, women’s rights were not implemented. After the revolution, however, Islam provided official regulations, and today Iran uses Islamic law,” she explained.
The family in Islam holds a very important and fundamental position in Islamic civilization across the world. The role of women as mothers within the family carries the responsibility of educating future generations. As stated in the Qur'an, Allah created humans in pairs, fostering love and affection between them. This nature of compassion was exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad, who, despite facing hatred from many, continued to guide people toward the path of truth.
Furthermore, Dr. Muhammad discussed the role of Iranian researchers as a tangible demonstration of women's participation in various fields, particularly in education. "Zahra Campus is a special educational institution for women and the largest in the Republic of Iran. I encourage everyone to visit Iran to witness the advancement of Iranian science and technology, as well as the significant role women play in these fields," he said.[LFM]
