Overseas Socio-Legal Research Training with Prof. Martin
FSH News, Madya Meeting Room – The Faculty of Sharia and Law invited Prof. Martin Jones (Professor of International Public Relations Rights Law) to be a resource person for research training for all FSH lecturers.
The Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, S.H., M.A., MDC, expressed his gratitude for Prof. Martin's presence at UIN Jakarta and his willingness to share knowledge with the FSH community. "This is a great opportunity for us to gain more global knowledge, especially in research in the field of the sociology of law abroad," said Prof. Maksum, opening the training event (Thursday, 24/10/24).
Legal sociology aims to explain the relationship between society and law. In legal sociology research, the focus is on how law influences society and how society, in turn, influences and shapes the law.
On this occasion, Prof. Martin explained socio-legal research conducted abroad, particularly drawing from his experience at York University. Professors and lecturers from the Faculty of Sharia and Law were very enthusiastic about participating in this research training, with the hope that it would help them improve their international research skills and produce articles that can be submitted to Scopus-indexed journals.[LFM]
