National Seminar Criminal Law Fest 2024: Legal Education in the Era of Indonesia's Golden Generation 2045
FSH News, 2nd Floor Theater Room – The Student Association of the Islamic Criminal Law (Jinayah) Study Program held the closing ceremony of the 2024 Criminal Law Fest (CLF) activities with a National Seminar themed “Strengthening Legal Education in Higher Education to Support Just, Beneficial, and Effective Law Enforcement in the Era of Indonesia's Golden Generation 2045.”
The Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, S.H., M.A., MDC, highly praised the National Seminar. “Currently, in the legal field, we are also facing the challenges posed by technological advances, such as AI. Therefore, legal education for the Golden Generation must be able to address these challenges, and students must also develop soft skills,” he explained (Monday, 14/10/2024).
In his remarks, the Dean highlighted how students can develop soft skills, such as integrity, the ability to interact and communicate effectively, and resilience in stressful situations. “By cultivating these three abilities, students will be better equipped to navigate a more complex world after graduation,” he stated. He emphasized that this is evident in the many alumni of the Faculty of Sharia and Law who have successfully taken on leadership roles in their respective professions.
On this occasion, the Chairperson of the HPI (Jinayah) Study Program, Dr. Qosim Arsadani, M.A., emphasized that the excellent accreditation achieved by the HPI Study Program is not just a title, but a result of the collaboration between students from start to finish.
Furthermore, the Chief Executive of CLF 2024, Ermy Kusuma, expressed gratitude to all parties who contributed to the success of this annual event. This was followed by remarks from the Chairperson of HMPS HPI (Jinayah), Daffa Prasandi, who reminded attendees of the importance of legal education, not only within the campus environment but also starting from the moment one becomes a student. "Creating the Golden Indonesian Generation of 2045 begins early," said Daffa.
The trusted speakers at this National Seminar were alumni of the Faculty of Sharia and Law: Dr. Uray Gapima Aprianto, M.H. (Chairman of the North Jakarta Religious Court) and Rahmat Ferdian Andi Rosidi, S.H.I., M.H. (Lecturer at the Faculty of Sharia and Law, UIN Jakarta), with the session moderated by Dimas Saputra, Deputy Chairperson of HMPS HPI (Jinayah).
The direction of legal development that began with Islam is inherently just. “From this justice comes sociology or urf in society, which creates legal certainty. However, we must still apply justice that can adapt to the conditions of society,” explained Dr. Uray.
The next discussion, presented by the second speaker, focused on the role of law students in making positive strides and being recognized by the community. “The first step that students must take is character building, discipline in logical thinking, and the development of superior human resources,” said Rahmat Ferdian.
In conclusion, he emphasized that by adhering to these principles, alumni of the Faculty of Sharia and Law can demonstrate that FSH graduates possess human resources with integrity.[LFM]
