Launching Sharia and Law Language Society: Strengthening the Interest of FSH Students to Pursue Master’s Studies Abroad
FSH News, 2nd Floor Theatre Room – The Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH) proudly inaugurated the Sharia and Law Language Society (SLLS), a new initiative designed to encourage and support students in pursuing higher education abroad. This institute, spearheaded by the Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation, in collaboration with the Head of the Law Science Study Program, Fitria, MR., Ph.D., marks a significant step in the faculty’s internationalization efforts.
SLLS aims to provide a clear roadmap for FSH students who aspire to continue their studies overseas. Vice Dean III, Prof. Dr. Kamarusdiana, M.H., emphasized the importance of this initiative:
“The faculty’s roadmap facilitates students in selecting their post-graduation specializations based on their interests. Whether aspiring to be lawyers, judges, prosecutors, entrepreneurs, or scholars seeking international education through LPDP scholarships, we aim to guide and support them effectively.”
The internationalization program remains a top priority for FSH, reflected in its growing collaborations with universities and institutions worldwide, including in Malaysia, Thailand, Germany, Australia, and Iran. Dean Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, S.H., M.A., MDC., expressed his hopes for SLLS, stating:
“We believe that SLLS will not only enhance students’ interest in studying abroad but also strengthen our global connections and expand the faculty's presence on the international stage.”
During the launch event, held on Friday, December 13, 2024, three distinguished alumni who received LPDP scholarships shared their inspiring journeys:
- Panji Ananta Puspanegara, S.H. (LPDP Japan Awardee)
- Ferinda Khairunnisa Fachri, S.H. (LPDP Sydney Awardee)
- Adlin Khairunnisa, S.H. (LPDP Sydney Awardee)
The speakers highlighted essential preparations for studying abroad.
“Language proficiency is crucial. Start preparing for TOEFL or IELTS as these are key requirements for overseas scholarships,” advised Ferinda.
Panji encouraged students to continuously improve their English skills, viewing them as a gateway to pursuing master’s studies abroad.
Adlin emphasized the importance of resilience and confidence in the face of competition. “While LPDP scholarships are highly competitive, thorough preparation and self-belief can lead to success,” she noted, sharing her own experience of being accepted into three top-ranked universities globally.
The establishment of SLLS underscores FSH’s commitment to fostering global opportunities for its students, equipping them with the skills and confidence to excel on the international stage.[LFM]
