International Student Mobility: UIN Jakarta FSH Students Visit Malaysia's Putrajaya Syariah Court
FSH News, Malaysia – On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, FSH UIN Jakarta, in collaboration with Universiti Malaya, visited the Putrajaya Syariah Court. The event took place from 09:00 to 12:30 Malaysian time. Upon arrival at the Syariah Court, students and lecturers were warmly welcomed by the court staff and then directed to Talking Council Room 1 (Courtroom 1).
After opening remarks from the staff, students and lecturers were invited to observe a trial in Dewan Bicara Room 2. Three cases were heard that day: the Determination of Hadhonah (Custody), the Determination of Divorce Talak Memorization, and the Wali Raja case. However, due to its confidentiality, the Wali Raja case was closed to the public, and students and lecturers were only allowed to observe the first two cases.
Following the trial observation, students and lecturers proceeded to the main room for a discussion session. During this session, they engaged in a question-and-answer discussion about the legal systems of both Indonesia and Malaysia, focusing particularly on Procedural Law in the Sharia Court and Islamic Law in Malaysia.
The visit provided valuable insights, especially regarding the differences between the legal systems in Malaysia and Indonesia. The knowledge gained from these activities was beneficial not only for the students but also for the accompanying lecturers.[EEA]
