FSH UIN Jakarta and APIUM University of Malaya Sign a Cooperation Agreement
FSH NEWS, Kuala Lumpur - The Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and the Dean of the Academy of Islamic Studies of the University of Malaya signed a letter of agreement in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia on 3 September 2025. Witnessing the signing were Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni and Cooperation Prof. Kamarusdiana, APIUM Deputy Dean for Student Affairs Dr. Mohamad Azrien bin Mohamed Adnan, Head of the Sharia and Law Study Programme Dr. Mohd. Zaidi bin Daud, Head of Siyasah Syar'iyyah Dr. Osman bin Md. Rasip, and several APIUM lecturers including Dr Mohd. Norhusairi bin Mat Hussin, lecturer in Family Law and Dr Mohd. Hafiz bin Jamaluddin, lecturer in fiqh and ushul fiqh. The last three names have visited and become guest lecturers at FSH. The agreement was the result of online communication and coordination several months earlier.
Dr Zaidi, Head of the Study Programme chaired the event. He said the cooperation had gone well. The Dean of APIUM, Prof Mohd. Fauzi bin Hamat offered several collaborations including joint book writing, collaborative research, student exchange, and teaching. Prof Muhammad Maksum, Dean of FSH, welcomed the offer. He added cooperation in student competition activities throughout ASEAN. This offer was also approved by the Dean of APIUM.
The fields of cooperation offered have actually been stated in the LoA. In addition, LoA also includes dual degree cooperation. Currently UIN Jakarta and UM are processing the dual degree to obtain approval from the Ministry authorised to obtain approval. Once approval is achieved, the FSH and APIUM dual degree will be followed up immediately. FSH and APIUM students will study several semesters at both institutions and after graduation will get a degree from FSH and APIUM.
In fact, the cooperation between FSH and APIUM has been running for a long time. Two FSH lecturers, Prof. M. Amin Suma and Dr Mujar have been guest lecturers at UM. Both have been and continue to be involved in seminar activities including the International Conference on Justice and Law (ICLJ) and the International Seminar Series. This activity takes speakers from the two institutions and has been held at the locations of the two campuses. Some lecturers have been dissertation examiners and are involved in joint research and publishing." [MM]
