FSH Outstanding Students: Davva and Annisa Make the Faculty proud at an International Event

FSH NEWS, Jakarta – Students from the Faculty of Sharia and Law at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta have once again made their mark on the international stage. Muhammad Davva and Annisa Alifya successfully secured medals at the Paku Bumi Open 13th International Championship 2025, a prestigious martial arts competition held from January 31 to February 2, 2025, at SOR Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung. This achievement highlights the excellence of FSH students in pencak silat, Indonesia’s traditional martial art.

Muhammad Davva, a 2024 Islamic Criminal Law student, won second place and brought home a silver medal. In preparation for the competition, he and his team underwent an intensive one-month training regimen, following strict diet, sleep, and exercise routines as instructed by their coach to ensure peak performance. When his name was announced as a winner, Davva experienced mixed emotions. "I felt sad because I couldn't win the gold medal, but at the same time, I was happy to earn silver in such a prestigious event," he shared.

Meanwhile, Annisa Alifya, a 2023 Legal Sience Studies student, claimed first place, earning a gold medal. She credited her success to mental readiness, consistent training, and maintaining good health. "Alhamdulillah, all the hard work has finally paid off with this victory," she said gratefully.

Both students expressed their hopes for themselves and their faculty. Davva aspires for FSH to excel in both academic and non-academic achievements. "I want to keep achieving and set an example for other students in my department, faculty, and university. I also hope that FSH continues to support my growth in this field," he stated.

Similarly, Annisa echoed his sentiments. "I hope that by winning this medal, FSH will continue to grow and provide support for every student’s development, no matter how small," she expressed.

Davva’s greatest motivation comes from his family. As the eldest child, he strives to be a role model for his younger sibling and make his parents proud, both academically and non-academically. "I want to prove that a student can succeed not only in academics but also in other fields. Additionally, I hope to earn a merit-based scholarship to help ease my parents' financial burden," he added.

The success of Annisa and Davva serves as solid proof that FSH students have immense potential to compete internationally. With continuous support from the faculty, it is hoped that FSH students will keep achieving new milestones and bring recognition to the university in various global competitions.[LFM]
