This activity is a continuation of the UIN Jakarta team's visit to Germany last year, where they were warmly welcomed and introduced to the concept of environmentally friendly campus and renewable energy.

"This is an extraordinary form of cooperation between two institutions that share the same vision of environmental sustainability," said Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, S.H., M.A., M.D.C., Dean of FSH UIN Jakarta. He hopes this collaboration will continue and have a real impact.

According to Prof. Arif Zamhari M.Ag., Ph.D., Head of the International Cooperation Service Centre, the theme this time is very important, namely Green Energy. In line with this effort, the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs has begun campaigning for the concept of ecotheology, which in the future will be included in the training of educational institutions. "Sustainable living is a small step that makes life better," he said.

In the discussion session, several German students expressed their views on global and local environmental issues. Senja Katharina highlighted the problem of plastic waste accumulation in Indonesia, which reaches 50 thousand tonnes per year. Meanwhile, Olga, a Russian-German student, shared her experience of the recycling system in Germany, where consumers are charged for each plastic bottle to incentivise recycling.

Still within the SDGs theme, Katharina Alexandra raised the issue of underwater life which is the focus of the 14th SDGs. She emphasised the importance of Indonesia's role as an archipelagic country in maintaining the world's marine ecosystem.

The topic of energy transition was also highlighted. Fabian presented the great potential of solar energy in Indonesia. "The sun shines every day here, this is a huge potential," he said. Moritz Alexander, who is also a football player in Germany, expressed his amazement at Indonesia's dependence on fossil fuels amidst the abundance of renewable energy sources.

UIN Jakarta Rector, Prof. Dr. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., welcomed the discussion and emphasised the need for real action. "We have campaigned enough about green campus. Now is the time for practice, not jargon," he said.

The event was closed by thanking the guests from Germany: Mrs Essie, as well as all Humboldt University students who attended. The spirit of cross-country collaboration is proof that environmental issues are a shared responsibility that transcends geographical boundaries." [NA]
