Book Review of ‘Diplomacy of Three Ages’ written by the Indonesian Ambassador to Colombia (2017-2021)
FSH News, Madya Meeting Room – The Faculty of Sharia and Law collaborated with the World Muslim Studies Center (Womester) in a book discussion event on "Diplomasi Tiga Zaman," a work by Dr. (H.C) Priyo Iswanto, S.Hum., M.H., the Indonesian Ambassador to Colombia from 2017 to 2021.
The Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, S.H., M.A., MDC., expressed that this event could be an opportunity for FSH students to advance to the international stage. "The experiences shared in this book will inspire students to continue learning and improve their foreign language skills so they can become diplomats or Indonesian ambassadors," said Prof. Maksum in his opening speech during the book discussion (Wednesday, 03/07/2024).
Womester is an institution focused on international research and community service, aligning with FSH's vision for faculty internationalization.
The book "Diplomasi Tiga Zaman" recounts 36 years of experience in Bilateral and Multilateral Diplomacy. “The idea for this book emerged during my first posting in Moscow,” Dr. (H.C) Priyo shared. He also emphasized that becoming a diplomat requires the ability to write reports, build self-confidence, and develop networks.
Prof. Dr. KH. Noor Harisudin, S.Ag., S.H., M.Fil.I., CLA., CWC., Director of Womester and a speaker at the event, expressed his admiration for the book's content. "This book is an excellent read for students who aspire to become ambassadors, as it covers both the theory and practice of being a diplomat," he explained.
International Law Lecturer at FSH UIN Jakarta, Dr. Atep A. Rofiq, M.Si., also participated as a speaker. "This is a fascinating book about the experiences of a diplomat who understands that the role and function of an ambassador are to conduct diplomacy for national interests," said Dr. Atep.
Students were highly enthusiastic about attending the event, engaging in direct discussions with the Indonesian Ambassador, which provided valuable insights as they pursue their dreams of becoming Indonesian ambassadors.[LFM]
