Bachelor of Law

Bachelor of Law  is the youngest Study Programme at the Faculty of Sharia and Law, established in 2008. The first Head of the program was Professor Thaher Azhari, also one of the Bachelor of Law initiators. Bachelor of Law was born to respond to the need for legal enforcers with high integrity and competence to integrate legal knowledge with Islam.

According to the Decree, This programme has three areas of specialization: business law, state institutions and legal practitioners. Bachelor of Law continues to develop with preparations for the formation of an international law concentration, which will be formed in even semesters (January-July) in 2024. In 2024, the Dean of the Shariah and Law Faculty plans to open a law master's program

Bachelor of Law is designed to produce graduates with comprehensive knowledge about legal theories and concepts, able to analyse and solve legal issues in society through advocacy and research. BL set the graduate profiles as follows:

  1. Legal professionals (judges, lawyers, mediators, analysts, and consultants) who are able to implement the law and provide legal services by considering scientific, Islamic, and Indonesian values.
  2. Legal researchers who are able to conduct research in law to formulate theories and solutions for legal issues.
  3. Legal activists who are able to conduct legal advocation in courts or off-court to create justice and maintain democracy based on Islamic values and human rights.
  4. Legalpreneurs who open legal businesses, such as law firms

The following is the pre-eminence of Bachelor of Law:

  1. In contrast to the legal study at law faculties in general, the bachelor of Law at UIN Jakarta emphasises learning that integrates conventional law and Islamic law. In this case, the aspect of legal pluralism in Indonesia becomes the central point of learning;
  2. The teaching staff comes from academics and practitioners. Among the practitioners are Constitutional Court and Supreme Court justices;
  3. BL has begun to apply the concept of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in the teaching and learning process so that students can also learn from real cases in the community;
  4. Students actively participate in debate competitions, moot courts, mediation competitions, scientific writing competitions, and other national-level competitions. Among the achievements are that the students won the Constitutional Court Debate Competition in 2015 and 2016, respectively. The Constitutional Court Debate Competition has been considered the most prestigious law debate competition in Indonesia.
