ACQUIN International Accreditation Visitation of UIN Jakarta's Faculty of Sharia and Law: Strategic Steps Towards Global Standards

FSH NEWS, Madya Meeting Room – The Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta conducted an international accreditation visit by the Accreditation, Certification, and Quality Assurance Institute (ACQUIN) as a strategic effort to meet global academic standards. This accreditation process serves as tangible proof of FSH's commitment to improving the quality of education and achieving internationally recognized academic excellence (Thursday, 30/01/2025).

The first day of the visit was attended by university and faculty leadership, along with representatives from six related study programs. The programs undergoing international accreditation include Family Law, Constitutional Law (Siyasah), Islamic Criminal Law (Jinayah), Legal Studies, Master’s in Islamic Economic Law, and Master’s in Family Law. The assessment team conducting the evaluation consists of international academics and experts, including:

  • Ebrahim Afsah (University of Copenhagen, Centre for European and Comparative Legal Studies)
  • Dr. jur. Dr. h. c. Mathias Rohe, M.A. (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Legal Studies)
  • Dr. Fritz Schulze (Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Seminar für Arabistik / Islamwissenschaft II)
  • Dr. Mouez Khalfaoui (Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, Centre for Islamic Theology)
  • Bilgehan Akbiyik (Consultant)
  • Max Witzke (Student of Economics)

The accreditation visit includes an evaluation of various academic aspects, such as curriculum, teaching resources, research activities, and student and alumni involvement in academic development. This initiative aims to provide constructive feedback for FSH in enhancing its internationally recognized educational quality.

The Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, S.H., M.A., MDC, expressed his hope that this international accreditation would serve as a milestone in strengthening the faculty’s academic reputation.

“We hope that this visit will lead FSH UIN Jakarta towards broader international recognition. ACQUIN accreditation is not only a source of pride for the faculty but also a motivation for the entire academic community to continuously improve the quality of education and research in law and Sharia,” he stated.

With this accreditation, FSH UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is optimistic about competing on a global scale and producing graduates who are competitive and contribute to both academic and professional fields. The accreditation process is expected to strengthen international collaboration networks and expand academic partnership opportunities with renowned institutions worldwide.
